Daniel Amaro - Tanguez

Uruguayan musician Daniel Amaro comes to Litteraturhuset to share his “tangueses”, the name he gives to his songs, filled with tango spirit.
Amaro is the author of “A la ciudad de Montevideo”, a cult song in his home country, and has released several albums since 1978, including Recital a la ciudad de Montevideo, Mares y abismos, Transatlántico, featuring Joaquín Sabina and Luis Eduardo Aute, and Transeúntes. He has set music to poems by Nicolás Guillén, Ernesto Cardenal, Raúl González Tuñón, and Julio Cortázar. He regularly performs with his band Transatlántico, and has toured Norway extensively, collaborating with festivals, orchestras, and productions such as María de Buenos Aires. In 2022, he was honored with the Premio Montevideo by the Montevideo City Council.
