Reading for Writers
To be able to write well, you have to read well. Authors don't read, they study books to learn.
In this new book club, we'll attempt to read literature in this way. We'll start by reading what various people have written about the writing process itself, these texts will be the starting point for our discussions.
Together we'll make the reading list for future meetings and our own canon.
We will read novels (excerpts), short stories, poetry and non-fiction about writing, and on occasion someone from the local literary scene will do a presentation to spark our discussion.
You don't need a degree or any prior knowledge, and there's no age limit. You can come once or every time, alone or with a friend.
It doesn't matter if anyone has read what you write, if you're published or not, as long as you consider yourself a writer.
