Law and Storytelling

To answer a legal case, a story always has to be created. It could be as simple as «a man illegally put up a fence on his property», but is there more to it? Often it is also relevant to know more. How long has the fence been there? Do the neighbors mind?
Especially in criminal cases, the story that is being presented can be detrimental for the fate of the person in question.
In this workshop, we invite you to make a story based on given facts regarding a fictional case. We will compare and contrast the different «stories». Together we will compare the «legal ideal» of being succinct (using as few words as possible) to other literary works that find beauty in preciseness. What stays, and what has to go?
The workshop is curated by Maja Holmen, a feminist storyteller and a law student at the University of Bergen.
